Our mission at VoltEdge Learning is to help others recognize their full potential whether as a technical trainer or an expert in a specific technical field. We’re proud to be a Microsoft-approved vendor for the instructional skills certification, which is a key requirement for those seeking to become an MCT. Through our own professionals and experts, and our comprehensive range of services, we can ensure that you will gain the necessary expertise required for joining the MCT program.
To enroll in the MCT program and qualify as an MCT, there are 3 requirements that must be met:
‘ISC’ stands for “Instructional Skills Certificate” and is one of the key requirements needed for becoming an MCT. To obtain the ISC, you must apply for and pass an Instructional skills course through a Microsoft-approved Instructional Skills Certificate Provider (ISCP). The ISCP will then provide the certificate as a proof of verification to show that you have demonstrated the necessary skills and knowledge to teach Microsoft courses to the standards set by Microsoft themselves.
Our instructional skills course will equip you with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel as a technical trainer. Through our virtual interactive sessions, you will learn how to plan and prepare for effective class delivery, utilize various delivery methods and technologies, cater to the diverse learning styles of your students, and assess both student and trainer performance.
Nowadays, the IT industry is increasingly shifting towards online deliveries, so our course will also explore the differences between online, hybrid, and in-person class deliveries, and provide insights into how you can optimize your effectiveness with each type of delivery.
In this course, you will participate in a range of exercises and be an active participant in group discussions and presentations. You will also have the opportunity to deliver a brief presentation (about 15-30 minutes) to the class and receive constructive feedback to help you improve your skills.
The following topics will be covered in each class delivery as part of the learning objectives:
To ensure that each class meets the unique needs of learners, we customize the content accordingly.
We evaluate each learner’s progress throughout the class using feedback from MCT facilitators, other learners, and invited MCTs. If you meet the criteria for approval, you will receive a certificate that can be presented to Microsoft when applying to become an MCT. If not, we will work with you to create an action plan to address any issues and provide guidance to help you succeed. You will then have the opportunity to deliver another teach-back presentation, which will be used to provide feedback and advice on your delivery techniques.
Our Instructional Skills Course sessions are initially offered virtually in an online format, but in-person sessions are currently being planned for the near future. Sessions are offered in Japan Standard Time. When you sign-up for a session, a Microsoft teams link will be provided via email to enable you to join the session online. If there are not enough attendees to run a session, we will contact you ASAP to notify you and offer to reschedule to another session. You can check the availability of our ISC courses in the calendar below.

Once you pass our ISC course, we will present you with a certificate to prove your completion. This certificate will be needed to show Microsoft that you have the desired level of skills and knowledge required to teach their courses.
Also, should you request to join the MCT program immediately, we will pass along your details to the MCT team at Microsoft to start your enrolment process. The team will then get in touch with you to finalise a few things before completing your application.
No, it won’t be necessary for you to retake the course.
In the case you don’t pass first time, you will receive feedback on areas of improvement and will be receive another chance at presenting your final presentation. You can receive up to 3 additional attempts (4 attempts total, including the first attempt in the course). If you fail all attempts, then it will be necessary for you to retake the course entirely.
Yes, we can offer timeslots on an Adhoc basis if our current timeslots are inconvenient for you. Simply contact us at Scheduling@vel.co.jp and we will do our best to accommodate your request.
Please be aware that our minimum requirement of 4 participants still applies in order to run the class.
There are many benefits to becoming an MCT. Some of the benefits are, but not limited to:
We currently run the course twice a month, but can also offer timeslots on an Adhoc basis if requested.
To request a custom timeslot, please contact Scheduling@vel.co.jp with details of your request.
No, you do not need any prior training or experience to join the ISC course. Although it may help, the course is designed to give everyone the same level of skills and knowledge required to deliver a course to sufficient standards.
For technical skills, we only ask that you have basic computing skills (making a PowerPoint, recording a video, etc.) as they will be used in class. No specialised skills will be necessary.
You would certainly have the potential to teach any Microsoft course, but you are required to have knowledge of the course content yourself before you can teach it to others!
For example, if you were to teach Microsoft PL-300: Power BI Data Analyst Associate, you would need to acquire the certification first before you are permitted to teach the course content.
No, it is not necessary to renew your Instructional skills!
Instructional skills are a constantly developing skillset that can be used throughout your career or role as an MCT, so there is no need to re-evaluate a skillset that is constantly being used.
